CCNA - Introduction to Networks

The Cisco Network Associate certification validates the skills required for entry-level network engineering/technical support/administration positions. Candidates will gain the knowledge and skill to install, operate and troubleshoot a small enterprise branch network, including basic network security and also successfully complete the CCNA examination.

This is the first of a three-part course leading to CCNA certification.

CCNA-1: Introduction to Networks (this course)

CCNA-2: Switching, Routing and Wireless Essentials

CCNA-3: Enterprise Networking, Security and Automation

This course introduces students to networking architectures, models, protocols, and components. These components facilitate the connection of users, devices, applications and data through the internet and across modern computer networks. By the end of the course, students can perform basic configurations for routers and switches to build simple local area networks (LANs) that integrate IP addressing schemes and foundational network security.

The course will follow the same curriculum and labs as those offered as part as MCC’s A.A.S degree in Information and Network Technology; namely: CPT 115 – Introduction to Networks, CPT 215 – Routing Fundamentals, and CPT 219 – Enterprise Networking.

As such, students meeting the academic requirements will be able to obtain credits (3 each for each course), subject to approval of their application for credit.

Pre-requisites:

CCNA focuses largely on Cisco-specific configurations and management. A background in networking or a previous CompTIA ITF+ or A+ certification is desirable. The ideal candidate is looking to pursue an IT career in Networking, Cloud or Cybersecurity.
