This 8-hour, hands-on, in-person course focuses on clinical dental hygiene skills, including basic and advanced dental hygiene instrumentation techniques, ergonomic positioning with relation to the patient and the operator, instrument sharpening skills and techniques to improve patient outcomes when using combined hand and power instrumentation. Basic and advanced power scaling techniques will be taught. Lecture will take place in the Dental Studies lab with the hands-on portion in the clinic. Personal items utilized for instrumentation, such as loupes, are encouraged. Attendees should wear scrubs. PPE will be provided.
