Dental Radiography: A Review of Intraoral Techniques

Are you a dental hygienist or dental assistant who would like to improve your efficiency when it comes to taking x-rays? Whether you have taken Radiography courses or received only on-the-job training, this 3-hour, in-person clinical course will help you brush up on your clinical radiographic techniques through manikin practice following a brief lecture. Learn to achieve important anatomical features on each intraoral image by correctly managing the digital sensor, PID, receptor holder, and control panel. Spend less time on retakes and provide exceptionally diagnostic images to aid in total patient care.

Note: Upon completion of this course, the attendee will receive a certificate of completion for 3 continuing education credit hours that is accepted by New York State.

Learning Objectives

This 3-hour in-person clinical course will cover.

  • Identify the key features that make a bitewing radiograph diagnostic.
  • Identify the key features that make anterior and posterior periapical radiographs diagnostic.
  • Demonstrate proper radiographic technique for bitewing and periapical radiographs.
  • Identify radiographic errors on intraoral radiographs.
  • Correct radiographic errors through manipulation of the digital sensor, PID, receptor holder, and control panel.
